FIT FOR TV: THE REALITY OF THE BIGGEST LOSER😊

FIT FOR TV: THE REALITY OF THE BIGGEST LOSER is a three-part documentary exploring the mega hit show, THE BIGGEST LOSER. It began in 2003 and ran for 17 seasons. It was not a smooth ride. As a reality show, it was fraught with too many issues that obese people must face and deal with every day.

THE BIGGEST LOSER was a controversial series. On the one hand, it was supposed to be entertaining. After all, it was made for TV, but on the other hand, the creators, producers, and trainers had to maneuver the contestants through years of self-doubt and self-loathing. It was a challenge.

The film showcased many of the winners and where they are today. Were they able to make those necessary changes to keep the weight off, and how did they feel about themselves years later?  The documentary depicted honest feedback from almost everyone involved. I wish I could say it was a happily ever after ending, and this is what made FIT FOR TV fascinating to watch.

FIT FOR TV: THE REALITY OF THE BIGGEST LOSER is worth viewers’ time. This is especially true if you tuned in each week when it was at the peak of its popularity back in the day. I remember watching several seasons when it first premiered. I had a hard time with the concept. I always felt such empathy. It bothered me how they were treated at times. This documentary validated my feelings, and I found it more inspiring and troubling than the original series.

It is streaming on Netflix.
