EVIL is an exciting, creative, humorous fantasy series that deals with demonic powers and entities. Think of it as the opening line of an old joke…a priest-in-training, a psychologist, and a blue-collar contractor who believes in the boundaries of science walk into a …..The stories are limitless, especially if the fabulous team of Michelle and Robert King (THE GOOD WIFE and THE GOOD FIGHT) are involved. It is a supernatural extravaganza with a soap-box plot line to move it along. I have never watched a show with so many priests and nuns who are continually facing a demon explosion.
I realize this all sounds a bit crazy, but the stellar writing and superb cast have pulled it off for four seasons. This latest one is no exception. The talented, amazing ensemble includes Katja Herbers, Mike Colter, Aasif Mandvi, Michael Emerson, Andrea Martin, Wallace Shawn, and Christine Lahti, to name a few. These actors lead viewers on a merry chase to debunk demons in the Catholic Church through any means possible. It is truly “out there” using fresh, quirky tactics.
I don’t believe this series is as scary as what is being shown in the horror genre today, but make no mistake, it is an EVIL show filled with some terrorizing moments. I love every minute of this path we are being led down. No detail has been spared, including the opening credits, which take audiences inside a pop-up book depicting the EVIL that lurks within. The whole presentation is brilliant.
EVIL is only halfway through season four. My only complaint is I don’t want it to end. It is streaming on Paramount+.
