DEXTER: RESURRECTION was a fitting season finale to this blood-spattered, violent series. It’s a fascinating discussion as to why audiences adore Dexter (Michael C. Hall). At Dexter’s core, he is and always will be a serial killer, yet he is so darn likable. Kudos to the writers for bookending the story and taking fans out on a familiar mode of transportation. It was like coming home to Dexter’s roots.
What makes this story extraordinarily compelling are the numerous possible content threads to explore in the future. When one character is bagged, another one arrives to take their place. Ironically, a police detective is obsessed with STAYING ALIVE.” Time will tell.
I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the fabulously whiny performance of Peter Dinklage. What a fantastic actor. Creepy is another word I would use to describe his characterization of a short-sighted, wealthy man. His prescience made the bile in the pit of my stomach rise to the surface. Not everyone can portray a villain.
DEXTER: RESURRECTION was haunting and extremely entertaining. The twangy musical tones will keep me awake at night until Dexter returns to have another stab at his moral code.
It is streaming on Showtime.
