DEPT. Q S1 REVIEW ๐Ÿ˜Š

DEPT. Q deals with a strong, robust cold case allocated to a new, unique group of misfits led by DC Carl Morck, played by Matthew Goode. Carl carries baggage on his shoulders from his own mistakes, unsolved cases, and personal, tragic moments. His brash demeanor is abrupt and incredibly sarcastic, but underneath the layers lies a brilliant, tenacious detective.ย ย

The writers presented audiences with an exciting and distinctly different premise for the story content. Many characters were introduced and intertwined. It was a fascinating tale, to be sure, with endless twists and turns, while mixed in between were all the backstories that gave the series its heart. It felt authentic because nothing was thoroughly explained, nor was it perfect in the end. This reminded me so much about the trials and tribulations of life. There is always good and bad. The scales balance both ways, and all anyone can do is their best, which is what the entire ensemble did when facing their truths and demons. Each moment connected to the next. It was exciting, fast-paced, and fun to try to solve.ย

DEPT. Q was an engrossing ride through the basement of police work. It demonstrated compelling teamwork and how those individuals can come together in the most unexpected ways sometimes. It gave everyone permission to squeeze those yellow therapy balls while digging through humanityโ€™s mistakes. It set itself up for another season with dignity and a humorous conclusion. I canโ€™t wait. These are my kind of peopleโ€ฆ flawed, but who do their best and try to change and grow.ย

DEPT. Q is streaming on Netflix.ย
