I’m sorry about the horrific plane crash that took your family. I’m even more apologetic for showrunner Jason Katims not giving you a better show to allow audiences to feel your grief.
The support group that you have in your community is disgraceful. If only you could visit one of the therapists from SHRINKING to get help and allow us to understand your suffering.
Also, as the show’s most compelling title character, why do you get such limited screen time? You deserve better. Jason Katims has written excellent characters in three other hit series, yet he has phoned it in for you. Feel free to hang up your “coat” and encourage Dr. Leigh from THIS IS US to come out of retirement for your needs.
What I can thank you for is serving as Ambien before bed. I had beautiful dreams about butterflies (minus the casket) thanks to Adriana’s (Anna Uzele) plot. Yet, I’m so sorry that despite your suffering, I don’t feel anything for your show. I’d love to spend time with you and the other characters and have a weekly cry ala THIS IS US or PARENTHOOD. Yet, I don’t. And please hear me when I say this GOOD WILL HUNTING style, “It’s not your fault.” That falls on your writers.
I’ll end this letter by saying thank you for trying to capture grief in all of its ugliness. Instead of sitting with you weekly, I’m going to check in with my friends on SHRINKING and cry for fifteen minutes.
Wishing you all the best,
– Aaron (former weekly viewer)
