The last few episodes added emotional arcs to the supporting characters on DAVE, while E9 goes back to the central theme for season three – will Dave ever be able to find and accept love? In theory, Dave has met his “dream girl” in Robyn (Chloe Bennet), but is that enough when he fantasizes about becoming “Mr. McAdams?”
Outside of the inappropriate humor, the hope that Dave has the ability to change keeps me coming back weekly. At this point, Dave has everything he could want. Fame, a girlfriend that accepts him, and the funds to purchase a M3GAN-worthy sex doll.
The real question now is – can Dave do the right thing in the season finale next week? If not, I fear that if this show is renewed for another season, it will continue to repeat the same themes and not fulfill a satisfying story for our eccentric protagonist. Yet, I know I must let go of that fear as I’ve learned that DAVE continues to close strongly every season. So, here’s to next week’s season finale and Dave getting out of the “nut house” to be a semi-decent human.
