COUNTDOWN was an explosive spy thriller.  It was a gathering of highly trained, hot-headed agents who are the only ones who can save our country from terrorism. Far-fetched? Yes, indeed, but this seems to be the trend in society. The story moves quickly using an ensemble of strong, imperfect characters. There are eight more weekly episodes to watch, so anything can happen and probably will.Â
What fascinates me about this series is that the critics have slammed its rating, while audiences are more forgiving and interested. I can’t go higher than a vomit for the moment, but I do enjoy a high-action plot of events. The problem, I must admit, is the dialogue. It feels stilted most of the time. The agents love to recap what is going on for viewers. I hope this stops. I don’t need a bunch of explanations to stay caught up with the storyline. I have a feeling their season might be too long-winded. Less is sometimes so much more fascinating.Â
COUNTDOWN is a toss-up. It could be a great treat to watch during these lazy days of summer. It all depends on how much suspension of disbelief viewers are willing to deal with, and if there is anything else premiering on TV.Â
COUTDOWN is streaming on Prime Video.
