BEFORE took a great deal of time, angst, and repetitious episodes toย get to the conclusion. There were moments I did not think I would finish, but I plodded through for hopefully some kind of pay-off. All I can say isโฆ it was meh.ย
I stuck with BEFORE because I am a huge fan of Billy Crystal. Rosie Perez is a fine actress but often underrated because of her unique nasal tone. Both did their best to advance the story. The writers just didnโt know when to stop. They could have streamlined this unusual psychological thriller with fewer installments. The premise was fascinating, but the journey was arduous.ย
BEFORE confused critics as well. It did not receive high marks. Audiences were more captivated, again because (I believe) of the reputation of Billy Crystal. I rest in the middle, but still cannot recommend watching. It is what it is, but with so many great series out there, this one should be placed on the back burner.
