AGATHA ALL ALONG S1E1-E2 😊/🤩

AGATHA ALL ALONG has come “a long” way from 2021’s WANDAVISION. And while it owes its setup to that polarizing show, it has a unique identity that should excite audiences to hop on their broomsticks for another “season of the witch.”

E1 SEEKEST THOU THE ROAD 😊

The premiere episode’s procedural cop drama framing works and is a nice setup for the twists and turns ahead. It also helps that Kathryn Hahn chews up the scenery (with gum) every moment she’s on the screen. Her ridiculous overacting is an excellent fit, while her character is “bit by the true crime bug.”

E2 CIRCLE SEWN WITH FATE / UNLOCK THY HIDDEN GATE 🤩

The second episode ends in a climatic witch chant that should have THE ACOLYTE creators take note of how to make a chanting sequence compelling. It also doesn’t hurt that AGATHA has the power of Patti LuPone singing in the scene.

AGATHA comes together thanks to the already strong relationships between the lead actors. I love seeing Joe Locke’s (HEARTSTOPPER) hilarious banter with Kathryn Hahn. I predict the series will lean into them being on the screen a lot more in the future.

The show succeeds by resetting our expectations from WANDAVISION and taking the beloved Marvel IP differently. It’s not quite episodic or connected to the bigger MCU. It’s simply enjoyable seeing so many likable people on the screen having a good time. This appears to be the path forward for the MCU as it proves successful here and in this summer’s hit, DEADPOOL AND WOLVERINE.

I don’t know where AGATHA ALL ALONG is heading. However, I’m excited to go “down the road” with these characters to find out. And one note – please include more singing in future episodes. 🤞

The first two episodes are available on Disney+.
