ABBOTT ELEMENTARY S4E20 AVA FEST: TOKYO DRIFT 🤮

ABBOTT ELEMENTARY - “Ava Fest: Tokyo Drift” - The Abbott teachers turn their open house into a carwash to help raise money for the school. WEDNESDAY, APRIL 2 (8:30-9:02 p.m. EDT) on ABC. (Disney/Gilles Mingasson) JANELLE JAMES, LISA ANN WALTER, WILLIAM STANFORD DAVIS, CREE SUMMER, CHRIS PERFETTI

ABBOTT ELEMENTARY was another departure from the classroom. Yes, it was important for certain admissions to be declared, in regards to what the characters truly want in life, but it just wasn’t enough.

For me, the humor fell flat – almost bordering on farcical. It felt like the ensemble was pushing too hard in order to get laughs. ABBOTT’s strength usually usually holds a more subtle, sarcastic touch. The only great moment was the surprise guest appearance of a popular musician, but again, it was too little, too late.

ABBOTT ELEMENTARY needs to get its act together and bring audiences back where the stories were rich with honest teachers’ tales. Most fans loved learning what really happens when the school bell rings.

ABBOTT ELEMENTARY is streaming on ABC.
