UNITED STATES OF AL was all about the process of buying a car whether you can afford it or not. The writing was smooth-talking and realistic, much like the lingo of a car salesman.
Al (Adhir Kalyan) got the car of his dreams, but at what price? And Riley, (Parker Young) learned a valuable lesson of how little he knows about negotiating. It was humbling for all, but gave us several humorous moments to see ourselves being held up in a mirror.
UNITED STATES OF AL continues to point out differences in Afghanistan/American culture. Good or bad, it allows us to see our true selves and always leaves us with a smile on our face.
