The twists and turns in TWINLESS are easy to telegraph, yet the heartfelt depiction of grief mixed with dark comedy makes for a winning combination. It also doesn’t hurt that Dylan O’Brien gives a career-best performance that deserves all the buzz.
Even without O’Brien’s performance, TWINLESS is worth watching thanks to James Sweeney’s directorial grace. He uses camera framing and music that give the film the appearance of a psychological thriller, mixed with the sarcastic humor that has the dry sensibility of Woody Allen.
So what does all of this mean? “Grab a sandwich,” and do yourself a favor and see this indie gem once it hits streaming later this year.
