TRUE DETECTIVE NIGHT COUNTRY SEASON REVIEW ๐Ÿ˜Š/๐Ÿคฎ

While Jami and Esta recommend venturing into the dark to enjoy the journey and Jodie Foster’s performance in NIGHT COUNTRY, Aaron is still so upset about the awful finale that he can’t recommend it.

Here’s our episode breakdown of the fourth season of the hit MAX series.

PART 1 ๐Ÿคฉย

“TRUE DETECTIVE has just started, and you know it will be a twisty, quirky ride to the end. I am ready and alert for the spirits who visit and help along the way.”

– Esta

PART 2 ๐Ÿคฉ

“Itโ€™s unclear if NIGHT COUNTRY has supernatural elements. If it does, audiences have yet to learn the type of ghosts in the series. What is clear is even when the show is doing a murder-mystery interview episode with a massive amount of backstory โ€“ itโ€™s still a must-watch TV.

– Aaron

PART 3 ๐Ÿ˜Š

”ย PART 3 is a slower episode than the first two, except for the final seconds. This is common in a lot of TV dramas, especially those with ongoing mysteries. If you keep me super interested all episode and then add a jaw-dropper in the last seconds, thatโ€™s fine. But if the rest of the episode isnโ€™t perfect, it always feels like a copout.

– Jami

PART 4 ๐Ÿ˜Š

Part 4 of NIGHT COUNTRY is still in the world-building phase. Itโ€™s another slow burn that has me questioning if theyโ€™ll figure out a satisfying ending for fans with only two episodes left. Also, why the hell does a weekly mystery need a polar bear? Didnโ€™t LOST do that better?

– Aaron

PART 5 ๐Ÿคฉย

“TRUE DETECTIVE: NIGHT COUNTRY was an emotional roller coaster ride this week. There were many questions answered and yet paths to redemption blocked. It definitely had several shocking moments that required a โ€œthorough cleaning of a mess.โ€

– Esta

PART 6 ๐Ÿ˜Š

“After a strong start, later episodes bounced between exciting and boring. Too much exposition and never enough. In my earlier review of this season, I lamented how I prefer to watch shows that drop weekly over full-season binges, and yet TRUE DETECTIVE with its many twists and turns played so much better as a binge.

– Jami
