Part 4 of NIGHT COUNTRY is still in the world-building phase. It’s another slow burn that has me questioning if they’ll figure out a satisfying ending for fans with only two episodes left. Also, why the hell does a weekly mystery need a polar bear? Didn’t LOST do that better?
I don’t like the characters in NIGHT COUNTRY. The leads continue to make poor choices that lead to drama and complexities. Yet, what’s missing is any genuine empathy for Danvers (Jodie Foster) and Navarro (Kali Reis). And with the dark circumstances in their lives, you would expect audiences to care more about what happens to them. Yet, that has not occurred.
Jami’s review of Part 3 said the show is slow but has a fast cliffhanger at the end. The same happens in episode 4. And that suspenseful cliffhanger is keeping me hanging on to see what happens this season. I want to know if there’s a supernatural presence. And more importantly, why the hell are two families watching ELF at the same time on Christmas Eve in Ennis, Alaska?
It’s available on Max.
