TOUGH OLD BROADSย is playing at SBIFF (Santa Barbara International Film Festival), and I had the opportunity to see an early look. Hereโs my spoiler-free take:
TOUGH OLD BROADS is an important documentary that every woman should watch. It reinforces how women today are still stirring the pot while making their potential capabilities known to all. It gives necessary directions to future generations. โBe persistent. Show up.โ Valuable words that are showcased within the stories of three strong women whose shoulders we all stand upon.ย
Director, Stacy Tenenbaum shined a powerful spotlight on those who changed the trajectory of womenโs preconceived paths in sports, politics, and photography. Katharine Switzer, Sharon Farmer, and Silas Watt-Cloutier made a difference. They began the domino effect felt and heard in America and around the globe. There is always a first. This is who they were and continue to be today.ย
The film represents strong storytelling, but could have used a smidge more editing. This would have greatly improved the movieโs pacing. I found the content fascinating. These are names we, as women, should know and remember. Their philosophies should become our mantra.ย ย โTalent is everywhere. It just needs opportunity. Be fearless. Be vulnerable.โ Their words echoed deep within my soul.ย
TOUGH OLD BROADS made me stand up and cheer. The film gave me goosebumps and pride. Weโve come a long way, but we have miles to go. I stand together with my sisters because I care. Kudos for the reminder.
TOUGH OLD BROADS premieres at SBIFF on Tues 2/10 – 5:00 PM
