TIME BANDITS begs audiences to suspend disbelief as the ensemble traverses through time and space. It is a crazy, scientific theory that if done correctly can capture the past while leading us into the future. Alas, it is not presented with the pizazz of DOCTOR WHO. Instead, it is a mere hint at the outrageous silliness and absurd satirical humor that most fans remember from the original movie created by Terry Gilliam and Michael Palin.
Please donโt think I am not enjoying the TV series. I am. I just wanted even more outlandish dialogue and action. I am a fan of Lisa Kudrow as Penelope. Her dry, sarcastic tone works beautifully. Alto (Tadhg Murphy) as the actor cracks me up, while Kevin (Ka-El Tuck) breaks my heart.ย
TIME BANDITS represent a journey. Kevinโs mission may get pushed to the side, while the gang keeps meeting other gangs in their financial quest for riches. Audiences could be in for a long ride through endless portals. This is a possibility unless the Supreme Being has anything to say about it. Obviously, time will tell if lumps of coal can be changed before the evil demon greets the leaderless group. It is streaming on Apple TV+.ย
