THIS IS US completed the story of Kate (Chrissy Metz) and Philip’s (Chris Geere)) wedding with the details about Kevin’s (Justin Hartley) romantic encounters the night before. Dan Fogelman, the creator of the series) has said some fans will hate it and others will be thrilled. Personally, I was on cloud nine. Sheer perfection, and I won’t spoil a moment.
What I loved about the writing is how they wove all the mystery clues back into the story. Every question was solved. Valentine’s Day and all the montages took my heart and made me smile for hours. It was clever, creative, downplayed, and reminiscent of authentic, honest situations.
THIS IS US has taught me that timing is everything in life. Nothing happens until you are ready. “Dipsey doodles,” “Buffalo Bills,” Big Three Homes,” and “carrying an extra pair of underwear when you travel” will not make one bit of difference. The universe (or in this case, the writers) have you in their pocket. There are only four more episodes left. (Cue the tears and hand me the Kleenex.)
THIS IS US is available to stream on NBC/Peacock.
