Season 3 of THE WHITE LOTUS has undoubtedly taken up its title of a slow burn. I am certainly interested in all the storylines and all the different characters, but I am yearning for it to go somewhere, and hopefully, now that we’re reaching the midpoint of the season, it will. This episode faltered when the characters left the resort. I think that was one of the things that made season two so spectacular for me because they utilized the different locations to their full extent. I’m not quite sure this episode captured that…
I’m very anxious to see where they end up going. Over these past episodes, Walton Goggins as Rick has stolen the show for me. I would cut off all the other characters if it meant I could get weekly hour-long episodes delving into his psyche. He is so well-written and unlike any other character we’ve seen in the series thus far.
Overall, HIDE OR SEEK was not the best or worst episode of the series. However, we are reaching the point where the world-building has done its job, and it is now time to give the other characters plot devices to move the story further (and/or give Jason Isaacs a break).
THE WHITE LOTUS is streaming on Max.
