THE STUDIO broke my heart amid the hilarious, joking Golden Globe mentality. After one look into Seth Rogen’s puppy-dog, desperate eyes, I wanted to wrap my arms around him in a big bear hug. The arts are fickle, subjective, and in the moment. Seth’s character, Matt, never had a chance.Â
This episode gave audiences an entirely different view of the studio execs. Who knew they lived within such self-doubt?  The writers also shared an inside, behind-the-scenes glimpse at these award shows. It reminded me of HAMILTON’s musical song spouting about being in THE ROOM WHERE IT HAPPENS.Â
Rogen is a fantastic actor despite his iconic, goofy laugh. He was able to make us feel empathy with him. We wanted what he wanted just because he could vividly express his angst, fears, and ego. It was a masterclass of hopelessness and despair.Â
Sal (Ike Barinholtz) was phenomenal as well. He offered the over-the-top relief laughter. Bravo to those crazy moments. We needed to feel both sides of the coin.
THE STUDIO is excellent TV. It is entertaining and surprising each week. I will never look at THE GOLDEN GLOBES the same way again. What a kick!
THE STUDIO is streaming on Apple TV+.Â
