THE STAIRCASE was a true filler this week, adding more specific details to the plot. It didn’t, however, make any significant changes or move forward.
Michael (Colin Firth) won’t say he killed Kathleen (Toni Collette). He believes you can’t “walk back from deceit.” I find his scenes slow and, at times, plodding. I just want them to get on with it. Better editing would have been helpful to maintain my interest.
THE STAIRCASE was loaded with angst due to the tension from those many prison years. It is a continual build-up and let-down. I want to get to the “meat” of the story, and, hopefully, closure.
