THE STAGE IS OURS is playing at the Spokane Jewish Film Festival, and I had the opportunity to see an early look. Here’s my spoiler-free take:
THE STAGE IS OURS was a nine-minute short film that showcased approximately fifty actors, playwrights, and directors as they gathered together in New York City’s Lyceum Theatre. There, they reflected on the influences of Jewish Theatre within that Broadway community. They had much to say about the history and relating their own individual, special moments celebrating the stage. It was poignant, funny, illuminating, and entertaining.
The ensemble gathered was a who’s who of major legends and iconic stars. At the conclusion, a huge picture was taken to mark the occasion for all who would come after. It was a wonderful reminder of all the fantastic talent immortalized forever.Â
THE STAGE IS OURS was a sweet, fleeting glimpse at how far Jewish Theatre has come and the domino effect it is still causing for all future artists.
