THE REHEARSAL this week was a lesson in perspective. Nathan Fielder shared his method of recruiting actors for his projects. Stalking still comes to my mind.
This installment made me wonder if exploring how anyone fully knows oneself is possible. Can we separate a character from who you are in real life? When is THE FIELDER METHOD too much to handle and keep everyone’s sanity in check? I felt bad for his student’s gullibility and blind trust. So many actors will do “almost anything” just to be seen.
As a former acting teacher, this was a hard episode to watch for me. But unfortunately, real life is not the same as life on a stage while role-playing. Oh Nathan, what did you do? If only “real life” were as uncomplicated…
