I feel like Abe (Tony Shalhoub) with my disappointment in the new season of MRS. MAISEL. As a critic, Abe states, āSometimes, writing a bad review is part of my job.ā I hope my mother wonāt be mad at me like Abeās congregation was at him. Last week, she gushed over S4 and stated that MRS. MAISEL āis what weāve all been waiting for during this long, quiet quarantine.āĀ
Unfortunately, while I also eagerly anticipated the return of MRS. MAISEL, I canāt help but say this season is falling as flat as Midgeās new material. After four episodes, not much has progressed in the plot, except for Midgeās hat changes.Ā
Out of the two episodes, E3 was much better than E4. It was a blast watching Abe (Tony Shalhoub) attack an awful play with determination and gusto. But, elsewhere, the story faltered. I wonāt get into the plot details, but I didnāt care about the other charactersā pains. This is despite Alex Borstein giving an Emmy-worthy speech as Susie.
As an aside, it was fun seeing Santino Fontana (CRAZY EX-GIRLFRIEND!). But, it was in a throwaway role as Boise. If they donāt have Fontana sing and dance by the end of the season, I will be š¤. Hereās anĀ exampleĀ of what the world is missing from this fantastic talent.Ā
Even though the title for E4 is INTERESTING PEOPLE ON CHRISTOPHER STREET, nothing interesting happens unless you count a guest appearance by John Waters.
Abeās words this week sum up how my mom and I have different opinions for season four. āThey came, they danced. Your mother would like it.āĀ
