The latest pirate-filled episode of THE MANDALORIAN is simultaneously a turning point for the show and the most STAR WARS installment yet. I love that the stakes in this season (so far) are relatively low, but with hints at galaxy-altering events leading to the sequel trilogy.
My fellow contributor, Mike, recently reminded me of the ambiguity of the show’s title, THE MANDALORIAN, and how it can refer to any number of characters; Grogu, Din, Bo-Katan, and maybe even The Armorer or (we can only wish) Sabine Wren. THE PIRATE is able to bridge the micro and macro elements of the galaxy while also capturing the whimsy of STAR WARS.
While this episode may lack some of the gravity of some chapters, it makes up for it with a lot of action, a side of world-building, and a ton of future potential. We’ve also received our second major REBELS reference, which is incredibly exciting.
THE MANDALORIAN SE35 THE PIRATE is now streaming on Disney+.
