THE GREAT BRITISH BAKING SHOW deserves all the love and positive feedback it gets. It is currently on Season 16 in the UK and only on the 13th here in the States. It hasn’t changed the way contestants vie each week for the prestigious title and a crystal cake plate. The judges, Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith, are harsh, honest, and humorous. The hosts, Alison Hammond and Noel Fielding, are sarcastic and outrageous, always working to help the bakers feel more relaxed in the big, white tent. It is highly entertaining and informative. I have never missed an episode.
TGBBS has only aired three installments this year so far, but I wanted to draw attention to this show so no one will miss all the different and difficult bakes the bakers have to manage. It is not as easy as cooking at home in the comfort of your own kitchen. It is not the same as being thrown together in an often hot tent surrounded by a dozen other excellent bakers. I am sure it feels daunting. No matter. It is all carried off with gobs of politeness and common courtesy. It is lively to see friendships being forged every week as they root for each other. Simply inspiring.
THE GREAT BRITISH BAKING SHOW is worth audiences’ time and attention. It is a fabulous way to become more skillful in the kitchen while hunkering over a hot oven.
Don’t miss it on Netflix every Friday.
