THE GIRLFRIEND S1 REVIEW 🤩

THE GIRLFRIEND left me breathless from a heart-raising, incredulous story, and wanting it not to end. Six episodes were simply not enough. The writers deliberately took me out of my comfort zone as I inhaled a plot that included deceit, lies, and back-stabbing with intense disbelief. I loved every second.

The credit goes to the fantastic ensemble of talented actors. At the top of the list is Robin Wright (THE PRINCESS BRIDE, FOREST GUMP, HOUSE OF CARDS) portraying Laura. She is the most protective mother of all time. She puts the capital C in the word cringeworthy. Her intentional, emotional choices will make audiences feel uneasy in every scene. As an added note, Wright also directed half of the episodes.

Her nemesis, Cherry, played by Olivia Cooke (SLOW HORSES, READY PLAYER ONE), was equally haunting and uncomfortable to watch. At times, I thought Cooke was miscast. I did not always agree with her physical appeal or look as Cherry, but I did 100% get lost within the depths of her facial expressions and captivating eyes. Both of these ladies were evil personified, but it was delightful to watch it all unfold in unexpected twists and turns. It was thoroughly entertaining and brilliantly crafted.

I am still mulling over the creepy finale hours after watching. THE GIRLFRIEND has not let go of my runaway imagination. This is a sure thumbs-up sign of a well-done series. I loved every moment of our horrific times together. Please come back so we can do it all over again.

THE GIRLFRIEND is streaming on Prime Video.
