Esta, Jami, and Aaron review the 4th season of THE BOYS, which tries too hard to set up the final season while not packing the same narrative punch the previous installments had. Here are our thoughts!

E1-E3 😊

After a surprisingly strong spin-off, GEN-V, THE BOYS returns for season four, and the three episodes somewhat soar, but not relatively as high as Homelander can fly. Speaking of Homelander, Antony Starr is the reason season four is worth watching. We all know that Homelander’s dictator-like tendencies are deliberately comparable to Donald Trump. And showrunner Eric Kripke utilizes them to shine a hilariously brilliant light, mocking America’s current political stage.”

E4 WISDOM OF THE AGES 😊

“The writers for THE BOYS are pushing Anthony Starr a lot this year and he’s delivering everything they give him and more. I cannot say enough good things about his performance. If the saying “hurt people, hurt people” is true, he’s the most broken of them all and has the most damage to cast around.”

– Jami

E5 BEWARE OF THE JABBERWOCK, MY SON 😊

“THE BOYS fifth episode ended with humor and sarcasm. It helped wipe away the barnyard memories. I will have to turn off my brain next time I sing OLD MACDONALD with my grandson.”

– Esta

E6 DIRTY BUSINESS 🤮

“It’s the job of many writers who do reviews and recaps to get them out quickly. Everyone wants their content out first. But this was an episode of THE BOYS that I really need to sit on a bit. On one hand, the show did a parody of my actual superhero character and a play on another favorite. I loved that; it was the best thing about the show so far this season. On the other hand, I hated everything else about this episode, DIRTY BUSINESS. I sat on a 😊 for a bit, but the more I thought about it, the more I realized this was the worst episode of THE BOYS I’ve seen.”

– Jami

E7 THE INSIDER 😊

“THE BOYS explored the world of puppetry to deliver a harsh message to children everywhere. The words “If you see something, say something” are now etched deep within my brain. Big Brother is really watching everyone now.”

– Esta

E8 🤩

One character in THE BOYS states, “If we are going to win against monsters, we have to start acting human.” This is an aspirational sentiment, and I’m excited to see it play out as we head into the finale next year.
