THE BEST YOU CAN brings a dynamo acting couple that have not been cast together for several decades. It was a rare treat to watch Kyra Sedgwick and Kevin Bacon play off each other’s strengths. They were totally entertaining while dealing with heavy, health, and life topics.
Bacon and Sedgwick portrayed two people facing major aging challenges. It was a breath of fresh air to witness their authentic, honest characterizations of what most will face as the years go by. The pay-off was true to life. Sometimes there are no perfect answers. Kudos to the writers for making an interesting choice. Getting old is not for sissies.
The cast was stellar, featuring Judd Hirsch, Ray Romano, and the beautiful, soulful sounds of Brittany O’Grady. Bravo for allowing the story to unfold gently, with realistic, angry, loving, and kind moments that courageously showcased how imperfect yet beautiful our time on earth can be.
THE BEST YOU CAN is a sweet, dignified, tiny blip along most everyone’s timetable, whether it is viewed on screen or off.
