THE BEAR S3 SEASON REVIEW 🤩

THE BEAR was a mix of polarizing feelings as Carmy (Jeremy Allen White) and the entire ensemble tried to find their peace within a dysfunctional restaurant. It showcased many guests, real-life, brilliant Chefs, who shared inner opinions about their chosen profession. It was indeed a plethora of food for thought moments as everyone lifted their glasses to Chef Terry’s (Olivia Coleman) insightful, heartfelt final toast.

Watching THE BEAR can be intense and stressful. I don’t think I want to hear the word “hands” one more time. And don’t get me started on the usage of the word “fuck.” They must have set a new world record, and to top it all off, I think I will be forever haunted by “doors” and the sounds  of  “he he he.”

THE BEAR personifies the search for perfection. How on earth can anyone maintain that level every day? For Carmy, it is all about the “non-negotiables.” The menu, the drawings, the exploration for a flawless plate, the constant bickering, the shouting, the unwillingness to say two simple words, and the desperate need to obtain a “star” could cause viewers endless ulcers. The beauty of this show is the juxtaposition of the frenetic against the gentle, slow,  extra, beats and pauses while gazing deep inside the souls of every character. I am haunted and inspired by the genius writing, profound performances, up-close camera angles, and music that frames each scene especially when learning Tina’s (Liza Colon-Zayas) back story. It was an ingenious, inventive episode.

THE BEAR ended their season with cliffhangers that hopefully will be answered next year. During this interim, I will be nurturing myself with good food and people while watching THE BEAR sweep the Emmys again.  It will be no surprise when Jamie Lee Curtis receives hers for a stellar performance. Kudos for raising the bar yet again. It is streamed on Hulu and Disney+.
