After an atrocious penultimate episode, SUNNY follows its “dark manual” to return to mediocre form. As it sets up one nice twist to carry over for a possible season two, I’m still asking myself why this show exists. I then remember that it was to display Rashida Jones’s brilliance and travel through Japan’s lush locations. Yet, outside of that, the story feels like an AI sometimes wrote it.
I won’t be rushing to recommend SUNNY to friends. Instead, feel free to boot it up if you’re looking for background TV (AKA something to watch while multitasking).
It’s available on Apple TV+.
