SUNNY S1E1-E2 😊

SUNNY’s premiere episodes are solid science fiction with more style than substance. It also has a sarcastically bitter performance from the underutilized Rashida Jones (why isn’t she a lead in more TV series?).

The simple premise is that Suzie (Jones) receives a companion robot in Japan to help her through a tragedy. That event and the strange company involved have a lot of similar vibes to Lumon Industries in SEVERANCE, with more robots and less heady unseen tech.

After two episodes of SUNNY, I’m intrigued with where this series goes. Even if the show ultimately fails, I’m enjoying the lush way it captures the always visually attractive Japanese locations.

The first two episodes are available on Apple TV+.
