SUNNY is moving along at a robot crawl pace. Outside of an exciting EASTERN PROMISES-light bathhouse scene, there’s little to report this week.
Suzie (Jones) continues to get herself into “sticky” situations, while the advanced technology in this series takes a backburner. I’m still intrigued by the Japanese locations, in love with Rashida Jones’s performance, and enamored by robotics in SUNNY. At this point, though, there should be more happening. Instead, the series feels like window dressing to a deeper layered narrative that’s taking too long to reveal.
I might have to power off this TV series if things don’t start to pick up.
