I was extremely hesitant to watch season five of STRANGER THINGS. After all, it had been three years since fans had had the opportunity to revisit the unique, quirky, 1980s group of young friends as they battle strange, powerful creatures from the “Upside Down.” Thank goodness I didn’t listen to my logical brain. I was totally wrong. This must be one of the best seasons ever.

Nothing is held back. It is all action after action until I swear, it becomes necessary to pause to take a breath. The sarcasm hits a bullseye. The teenage angst and parental boundaries are emotional and authentic. The writers have made sure to give viewers exactly what they were waiting for… exciting entertainment with several surprise return characters. It is a true reunion. There are moments audiences will need a Kleenex box nearby. I was enthralled and immersed every second, and don’t worry about remembering all the subplots. It will cleverly all come back.

Kudos to the entire ensemble. Their roles have expanded and matured. Everyone shares the weight of bringing this epic tale to a proper conclusion. It was like attending a graduation ceremony. Of course, not all is perfectly worked out. STRANGER THINGS is a journey, one we share with some very talented actors.

STRANGER THINGS will drop three more chapters on Christmas Day and the finale on New Year’s. I can’t tell you any more than that because I don’t want to reveal any fabulous spoilers. I can say it was intense, compelling, and worth every minute of your time. There are crazy cliffhangers and moral dilemmas to be reconciled. I can’t wait. I realize I am gushing, but it’s been a while since I have been this excited about a series that has taken its time to develop. Don’t miss it.

STRANGER THINGS is streaming on Netflix.
