SPECIAL S2 was…nothing special. The humor felt forced as if the writers were trying too hard to be “cool and woke.” Every episode, the show introduced new relationships and plot lines, but many would end abruptly, with no further exploration or discussion. This made it difficult to connect with any of the characters, and thusly, the events of the show felt inconsequential.
The show did shed light on important issues within the neurodiverse, disabled, and LGBTQ+ community, and it felt refreshing and important to see these perspectives on screen.
If you are mindlessly scrolling through Netflix with nothing to watch and nothing to do, SPECIAL will help you pass the time, but otherwise, you are not missing out.
SPECIAL S2 is available to stream on Netflix.
