SOUTH PARK attempted to bring the show back to being about the boys of South Park this past week. And despite their best efforts, they still ended up at the White House, with Trey Parker and Matt Stone using their platform to bash Trump, Pam Bondi, crypto, and so much more.
And while everything in the episode was relevant, it just wasn’t funny. I come to watch SOUTH PARK for its absurd situational comedy and its up-to-date takedowns of pop culture. THE WOMAN IN THE HAT got 1 out of 2 this week by once again taking a swing at the political climate, yet it forgot about actually being funny.
Some of My Favorite Quotes This Week:
- “The truth is that I think a lot of people are afraid to admit that SOUTH PARK sucks now. “
- “SOUTH PARK is getting ruined, and all these Gen-Alpha kids are just watching it happen.”
- “This isn’t about a coin, it’s about a movement.”
- That’s the Head of the FCC. He has lost his freedom of speech.”
****************
This was the weakest SOUTH PARK episode so far in seasons 27 and 28. It was fun to see so many references, yet I long for SOUTH PARK to be funny. That’s the #1 purpose of a comedy show on a network called… Comedy Central.
It’s available on Paramount+ + and Comedy Central.
