SORRY TO BOTHER YOU at times feels like the early works of;
Spike Lee shining a light on racism
The fantasy-world building of Terry Gilliam
The offbeat sensibilities of Charlie Kaufman
The slapstick comedy stylings of David Zucker / Jim Abrahams.
While it may lack empathy, making for a tough viewing experience, the audience can’t escape Boots Riley’s timely polarizing voice that will surely be remembered as he has created the most original film of 2018.
