SIDE QUEST is a series of four stand-alone episodes based on MYTHIC QUEST. Since each ‘side quest’ is a stand-alone story, I’ll review them separately.

E1 SONG AND DANCE 😊

SONG AND DANCE is a good, not great, edition in which a MYTHIC QUEST employee tries to get as far away from his toxic relationship as possible. While the comedy elements are there, the heartstrings don’t work to the full extent intended.

E2 PULL LIST 🤮

On paper, PULL LIST should have everything a viewer needs, yet this comic book store-themed outing is a dumpster fire of mediocrity. There are so many opportunities to make this hangout a success, and where things fall apart is having a group of characters with next to zero likability.

E3 FUGUE 🤩

When I thought these SIDE QUESTS wouldn’t be worth taking, the series delivered FUQUE – an episode so good that there should be an Emmy buzz next year. Since the episodes are stand-alone, viewers do not need context to enjoy one of the most beautiful TV episodes in 2025.

E4 THE LAST RAID 😊

E4 takes place entirely online and plays out like the best COVID edition special—MYTHIC QUEST: QUARANTINE. It’s enjoyable and silly and includes themes about letting relationships die to respawn later in life.

All four episodes of SIDE QUEST are available on Apple TV+ starting on March 26th, 2025.
