SHE CAME TO ME boasts a unique and quirky story. This is not saying the content is fabulously written, rather it is different and at times, absurd.
The film features a highly talented group of actors including Anne Hathaway, Peter Dinklage, Marisa Tomei, Evan Ellison, and Harlow Jane. Love, finding your true self, and mental health were highlighted while taking a ride on a tugboat, composing operas, or visiting a nunnery. Life can get off track in the blink of an eye, as was the case in watching this movie unfold. Great actors don’t necessarily make the scenes stronger. In this case, the plot holes just became more noticeable. I expected more.
SHE CAME TO ME is not really a romantic comedy or a straight drama, and this is the problem. It begged the question what the heck did I just watch and why should I care? It is streaming on Hulu.
