SEVERANCE is a new, Sci-fi, futuristic series directed by Ben Stiller. I would love to discuss the plot, but then I would have to take you into the “break room,” and you don’t want to know what that means.

Creator Dan Erickson has designed a world where the all-powerful corporate community has the final say about your life. The office set is a maze of endless cubicles without a roadmap in sight. It is stark, minimalistic, gray, white, and ominous.

SEVERANCE boasts a stellar cast, including Adam Scott, Patricia Arquette, Britt Lower, and Zach Cherry. Their characters are intriguing and complete this production’s outrageous “package.” I want to know so much more than what any of them let us see. With their acting expertise, any viewer would want to feel “right as rain” in their presence.

There are moral, ethical, socially acceptable issues at play in this work environment. Do the results just get “unknown” answers when asked “five simple questions?” Where is the exit? We definitely need an exit, especially with the intense background music adding to the nervous energy.

SEVERANCE is not a fast-paced, action-packed series; instead, it’s a thought-provoking, perilous look at where we could be heading in the near future. If I were an employee, I would be terrified. “There is a life to be had.”

SEVERANCE is available to stream on APPLE TV+.
