With only four episodes of Season 8 to go, audiences still don’t have an overarching plot for everyone’s favorite narcissistic family member – Rick. The latest provides audiences with a time-travel setup for the two Beths and an amusement park called Earth-World for the rest of the characters.
The A-story of the two Beths isn’t as funny as it could be, yet the group hug at the end of it caps off the continued growth of Rick as an emotionally evolving character. As for Earth-World, the setup is fantastic. However, the execution, which includes Danny DeVito playing Dr. DoctorBalls (yes, that is the character’s name), leans into the gross-out comedy instead of the potential for amusement park laughs.

- “He died in that thing. What was it called? Oh yeah, 9/11.”
- “Technology this advanced is indistinguishable from magic” (Only because it’s a reference to Arthur C. Clarke).
