After PREY, my expectations were high with anything that creator Dan Trachtenberg delivers in the PREDATOR universe. I’m happy to report that KILLER OF KILLERS doesn’t just meet those lofty expectations – it kills them! The latest PREDATOR installment is a three-part animated feature that resembles a video game in its visual style yet retains the emotional intensity of a summer blockbuster film.
Each part is easily a 🤩.
- THE SHIELD gives us a HELLBLADE SENUA’S SACRIFICE-like style with a bloody-as-hell one-shot and some underwater animation that needs to be seen to believe.
- THE SWORD is almost entirely dialogue-free and showcases a family battle where two brothers must duel to appease their father and become the leader.
- Despite taking place in WWII, THE BULLET is the funniest of the stories thanks to the hilarious pilot, Torres, voiced by Rick Gonzalez. Also, kudos to this part for having a soaring predator sequence in planes!
After KILLER OF KILLERS, I cannot wait to see what bloody hunting Dan Trachtenberg has up his sleeves for PREDATOR: BADLANDS (coming out later this year). What I do know for sure is that he should have the reins to create a PREDATOR Cinematic Universe. And from the results of this and PREY, he has earned it.
It’s streaming on Hulu.
