In season four of ONLY MURDERS IN THE BUILDING, we are well beyond the walls of the Arconia. The series has evolved from a silly murder mystery to a convoluted mess of star cameos. Even Paul Rudd’s cameo this season is for the “rats” and lands flat.
With that complaint, I’m sure readers are wondering why I’m still giving the penultimate episode a positive review. And that’s for three reasons:
- Ron-Ron – This week’s new celebrity cameo works. It’s funny and ties the story together (although with a slew of potholes).
- The cliffhanger – Now that’s how you end an episode. The creators have once again hooked me for one more.
- Friendship – Steve Martin and Martin Short’s celebration of friendship is near perfection. Two short scenes are some of the most heartfelt we’ve seen them capture on camera together.
Grab a whiskey, prepare for some naughty secrets, and enjoy the hopefully last A-list celebrity cameo in this week’s ONLY MURDERS IN THE BUILDING on Hulu.
