MURDERBOT takes viewers into a high-tech sci-fi adventure thriller, packed with sarcastic humor and narrated by the rebel robot, portrayed by Alexander Skarsgard. The first two episodes featured a fresh look at the future while playing homage to the world of daytime soaps. Pay attention because there are a bunch of well-known actors on the screen within a screen.
The series is based on the book by Martha Wells. It creates a dynamic team of Chris Weitz (ANTZ, ABOUT A BOY, and ROGUE ONE) and Paul Weitz (ABOUT A BOY and MOZART IN THE JUNGLE). This is a much-anticipated series, and so far, it is holding up to the media hype.
The premise of free thinking and choosing your future is exciting and entertaining. It is living on the edge while exploring a dangerous planet. The scientists chosen are a tag-team of various mindsets and talents. It is quite fun to be a part of the chaos. Life in the future still holds the promise of peace, even when death and destruction are all around. The writing is tight and filled with dramatic, mistrusting moments. I am intrigued.
MURDERBOTS is just getting warmed up. I can’t wait for more well-written, humorous stories involving a bot that could cause havoc and turmoil among an unsuspecting team. But then I hear Skarsgard’s soothing words…”Stay calm. It will be okay. You have my word…” and I am putty in his hands.
MURDERBOTS is streaming on Apple TV+.
