LADY IN THE LAKE ended Cleo’s (Moses Ingram) and Maddie’s (Natalie Portman) story, continuing their own creative, artsy style. It was amazing how these two women found their connection and path forward within the confines of the civil rights protests during the 1960s and 1970s in Baltimore.
The entire ensemble got their loose ends tied up as well. There really wasn’t a question of what happened, but because the writers loved their symbolistic montages, audiences must pay close attention to what was flashed across the screen. I believe it would take a couple of hours to unpack it all, but the plot was always secure within the talented hands of the leading ladies. Natalie can chatter forever, and Moses has a singer’s soul. Kudos to the duo.
LADY IN THE LAKE is not your average murder mystery to solve. There were far too many twists and reveals, but it did tell Cleo’s story uniquely and lucratively for all concerned.
It is streaming on Apple TV+.Â
