KNEECAP 🤩

KNEECAP is a politically charged film that feels like TRAINSPOTTING, 24 HOUR PARTY PEOPLE, and 8 MILE. It’s a film about Belfast, but it doesn’t feel like anything we’ve seen out of Ireland before. It’s raw, energetic, and the most fun I’ve had at an independent film this year.

Móglaí Bap, Mo Chara, and DJ Próvai (all playing themselves) kill it in this docu-comedy story about their rap music. Yet, despite having more drugs and party scenes than any film this year, it’s authentic and more about the censorship of their native Irish language.

My favorite quote from KNEECAP is, “Stories are built from language. Nations are built from stories. This is our story.” This is the story of Kneecap’s band members, learning that “no one is anyone until they are.” And if you don’t like their abrasiveness, you can “F*ck up” and miss out on a film worthy of making it on several top ten lists.

It’s available in limited theatrical release.
