INSIDE OUT 2 🤩

INSIDE OUT 1 and 2 hit me differently as a parent. I went back and rewatched INSIDE OUT before seeing the sequel this past weekend, and it was the unexpected cryfest I needed. I remember loving INSIDE OUT when it came out in 2015, but it didn’t destroy me the way it did nine years later.

I was “anxious” that INSIDE OUT 2 wouldn’t hit those same “Nostalgia” emotional highs the first did. And I’m “embarrassed” to report that it nearly does. The film is on the same level as TOY STORY 4. Meaning it’s damn good, and audiences won’t face “boredom” while watching it.

INSIDE OUT 2 insightfully covers how beliefs are formed and how the core ones define your sense of self. While the big event plot sometimes feels small, Riley’s emotions around it are enormous. And Riley’s emotions make INSIDE OUT 2 a must-see on the big screen. Watching how “not being good enough” plays out for a kid is an excellent lesson for families to learn and grow from.

A character in the movie states, “As you grow up, you feel the loss of joy.” I’m thankful Pixar has found its joyous self in Riley’s head. It’s a trip worth taking, and I’d gladly go on it again if they decide to make a sequel. oh, and I’ll be sure to pack extra TripleDent gum next time.

It’s available in theatres.
