HACKS has been building up to this final episode of the season. All roads lead to Deborah (Jean Smart) and her long-awaited late-nite show. Ava (Hannah Einbinder) has learned well from the master negotiator. The two of them going head to toe is humorously rich with sarcasm and one-liners. The priceless, funny beats just went on and on.
The writers knew how far to take the entire ensemble, with one of my favorite bits happening on the tarmac before taking off. It was thoroughly entertaining and unexpected. Kudos for brilliant comedic moments that feel so spot-on. Everyone speaks their mind at such a rapid pace with bittersweet undercurrents racing throughout the lines. Viewers will never know what hit them.
HACKS exceeded my expectations this season. It ended with a BULLETPROOF cliffhanger and a powerful punch. I stand among Deborah’s huge fan base and await her return to “late nite”. It is streaming on Max.
