HACKS is hilarious, poignant, real entertainment. It features both an older and a younger person’s viewpoint of our current world situations. It pits them against each other and yet allows both sides to breathe and express themselves. It is a must-see TV show just for the authenticity and the laughs.Â
HACKS took a normal getaway golf competition and turned it all upside down on its ass. Deborah (Jean Smart) and Ava (Hannah Einbinder) are perfect foils for each other. They act and react to each other’s nuances and flaws. It is a master class in comedic timing, while the storyline grabs both your heart and your gut. It is tough to be a good person because sometimes “you just want to suck the marrow out of the bone.”Â
Deborah has taught me many fabulous lessons this week as well. I now know the proper way to use a straw, how to keep “my lines” smooth, and “don’t redo…refresh.” She is an older woman’s guru. How did I get to be my age without her wise advice? I still can’t stop laughing.Â
