GEN V S1E4 THE WHOLE TRUTH 😊

THE BOYS has always been a fantastic show at opening and closing. The three seasons have some of the best and most offensive action sequences of all time, which surprisingly has you care about the band of misfit characters in it. Cut to GEN V, and after four episodes, the series has a similar challenge. The pilot was superb, while the following three episodes have been good, not great. Outside of two sequences, the (whole) truth is that E4 is the weakest.

While it’s exciting to see the always-hilarious Derek Wilson (FUTURE MAN, PREACHER), the Tek Knight and Emma/Sam plots are not that exciting. I get that chemistry needs to form for Emma and Sam, but the execution is less than thrilling. As for the Tek Knight plot, how many reality TV interview framings do we need in TV shows? It’s overused, boring, and always tries to fill in way too many plot “holes.”

Halfway through GEN V’s first season, the show is a good addition to THE BOYS universe. I have “giant-sized” hopes the creators can stick the landing by E8.

It’s available to stream on Prime Video.
