ECHO VALLEY 🤮

ECHO VALLEY raises the question of how far any mother would go to help her child.  Where does the line for enabling begin? These questions are intended for viewers to contemplate as they watch Kate (Julianne Moore) struggle to do the right thing while trying to maintain a tenuous relationship with her daughter, Claire (Sydney Sweeney).

The writing was handled by Brad Ingelsby, who is an award-winning writer for MARE OF EASTTOWN. I was disappointed with the holes in the story content, considering the caliber of actors involved and the director, Michael Pearce (BEAST). It just seemed to be all over the place. Grief, addiction, and violent crimes are more than enough to get it right. It felt like we were often surfing the surface. So many backstories never rose to the top and into the light. This was a missed opportunity.

ECHO VALLEY is marketed as a thriller. I did not feel this at all. I did believe that the amazing Fiona Shaw was wasted in her limited scenes. She is a phenomenal actress. Bummer. The dog was great. This is particularly sad when I mention trained animals in my review. ECHO VALLEY did not do it for me.

ECHO VALLEY is streaming on APPLE tv+.
